This Week at BAM: BAMcinématek begins Shock Value: Dan O'Bannon, a series honoring the unheralded Dan O'Bannon and his contributions to the horror genre, including his rarely screened short film Bloodbath plus Dark Star (pictured), Alien, and more. The Marilyn! series continues with Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and River of No Return. R&B singer and pianist Swamp Dogg—"the soul genius that time forgot" (The Guardian, UK)—plays the R&B Festival at MetroTechFAB Fridays continues, transforming Fulton Street in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill into an all-day party. In new releases, BAM Rose Cinemas continues to screen Terrence Malick's Cannes Palme d'Or winner The Tree of Life, as well as Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris and Mike Mills' Beginners, starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer.
